our nonprofit organization supports teens in NYC
A word from Parle Endeavors…
Launched in 2022, Parle Endeavors is a New York City based 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower and support young adults through mentorship, scholarships, grants, exposure, and experience. Our founder, Kevin Benoit, has worked in youth development and education for over 15 years
Most recently, on July 27th, Parle Endeavors held the the 2nd Annual Teen Poetry Slam series - a competitive spoken word poetry competition where teens compete for prizes totaling $2500! Over 75 teens participated in the competition which featured events in multiple boroughs and communities. 10 finalists participated in the finals, which took place at Poets House in Lower Manhattan.
Congratulations to all our finalists! Our 2024 Parlé Teen Poetry Slam Winners:

“For Aniyah Artis, 17, this is her second year performing in the poetry slam showcase. She began writing poetry in her freshman year of high school as a way to express herself better. From there, she used her skills to grow in confidence and meet other poets, she said.
The Brooklyn resident said writing poetry made her better understand herself.”

“The citywide competition for teens was created by Kevin Benoit, founder of Parlé Endeavors, a nonprofit focused on youth opportunities for creative expression and entrepreneurship.
The young writers’ poems covered a variety of personal topics, including the power of poetry (“What kind of poet doesn’t do a little saving?”), self-worth (“I matter, don’t I?”), sleep as an escape from pain (“pushing it away on the farthest shelf”) the feeling of vulnerability (“concave inwards, trapped within myself”) and gender transition (“never again ‘insert dead name’”).“

““Our mission is to empower young adults through mentorships, scholarships, grants, and exposure to the arts, media, journalism and entrepreneurship,” said Kevin Benoit, the nonprofit’s founder. “The goal of these events is to help young people develop their voice and practice public speaking and writing among their peers in a low-pressure environment. Parlé poetry events have been fostering youth opportunities for a long time, and we’re proud to continue bringing young people from all over the city to write, perform poetry, connect, make friends, and showcase their art and words.””
